What in the World Wide Web is Cowboys In Cyberspace?
Back in the middle of 1997, Bob Howe wrote an essay for his Web site entitled 'Cowboys In Cyberspace - Country Music on the Internet'. It was a short overview of the sort of things a Country Music fan might find interesting while surfing the World Wide Web. Having been a contributor to Country Music Capital News during the previous fifteen years, Bob decided to offer the article for publication. Editor (at the time) Jon C. Farkas, recognising the impact that the Internet was having on the music business, asked Bob if he could make Cowboys In Cyberspace a monthly column. There began a regular expedition into the outer reaches of the On-line universe and become "Australia's most entertaining Internet Country Music resource!"
Each month a new Cowboys In Cyberspace page appears in Capital News, the national printed publication, and readers can find out what's new on the Internet, and what Web sites relate to touring Country Music artists and new album releases. Technological advances are sometimes discussed, and occasional surfing hints, but the articles are always presented in an entertaining way without too much jargon. Instead of having to type in all those long WWW addresses, each Web site mentioned is already linked on-line for the reader - just a click away! All the previous articles are archived, or if you want to get straight to the nitty-gritty, the Links page contains an alphabetical list of the Links, the whole Links and nothing but the Links. Currently 500 Country Music sites from around the world are listed, and the directory gets bigger every month! This makes Cowboys In Cyberspace an invaluable resource for the Country Music fans and the industry alike.
