AUSSIE STAR AND HOMETOWN MUSICIAN PERFORM IN RUGBY

Australia's biggest country-rock singer NICKI GILLIS is headed to Rugby with her band, led by Rugby-born guitarist BOB HOWE. On Saturday 3rd July 2010, the NICKI GILLIS BAND will play at Hillmorton Ex-Services Club as part of their second UK tour, following on from Nicki's success as the winner of the prestigious Frank Ifield International Spur Award. A champion of Australian talent, sixties pop sensation Frank Ifield says, "Nicki is a towering talent who has an abundance of charisma both on and off the stage."

Indeed, Ifield was so impressed with her talent that when Nicki recently decided to record an updated version of his hit song I Remember You, he joined in to make the track a duet. Produced by Bob Howe, who was also Ifield's Musical Director for many years, the recording gives a modern slant to the classic song and is receiving extensive radio airplay.

Bob is excited to be playing a show in his hometown for the first time. A former Abbotts Farm and Lawrence Sheriff schoolboy, young Robert emigrated to Australia with his mother, Barbara Howe in 1970. He became a successful musician and entertainer and this year won the 'MO Award' (the top Australian showbiz honour) as Best Instrumental or Vocal Instrumental Performer.

Hillmorton Ex-Services Club is a sentimental choice for Bob as his late father, Jon Howe, was the social secretary of the club in the sixties. "It will be quite something to perform where I first saw live entertainment as a youngster", says Bob.

The NICKI GILLIS BAND will play at 9pm and tickets will be £5 at the door.
